Indulge in this luxurious Crab & Shrimp Seafood Bisque that wraps you in warmth and flavors of the sea.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 0.5 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup Celery, finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup Carrot, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 0.25 tsp Cayenne Pepper (optional)
  • Salt & Black Pepper, to taste
  • 0.25 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 4 cups Seafood or Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 0.5 lb Cooked Crab Meat (shells removed)
  • 0.5 lb Cooked Shrimp (peeled & chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Sherry (optional)
  • Fresh Herbs (Parsley, Chives, or Dill)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion, celery, and carrot. Sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in garlic, tomato paste, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle in flour and stir constantly for 1 minute to create a roux.
  4. Gradually add seafood or chicken broth, stirring continuously. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and simmer gently for 10 more minutes.
  7. Fold in crab meat, chopped shrimp, and sherry. Simmer for another 5 minutes.
  8. Adjust seasoning if needed, garnish with fresh herbs, and serve hot.

Notes

Serve with crusty sourdough bread or buttery garlic toast. For a festive touch, garnish with fresh dill or paprika.
